Sons do Mundo na Escola
Sons do Mundo na Escola is an artistic and intercultural education programme promoted by SOMA Cultura in partnership with Orquestra Geração, taking migrant musicians based in Portugal to schools in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Through participatory workshops, children have the opportunity to discover instruments, rhythms, songs and musical traditions from different regions of the world, promoting creativity, curiosity and intercultural dialogue.
The programme includes 32 workshops throughout the year, led by eight musicians of different cultural origins, in four Orquestra Geração branches, involving between 120 to 160 students. Through direct contact with the artists and through collective musical experience, the project aims to celebrate cultural diversity, fight stereotypes and create spaces of encounter and sharing between cultures.
